The Canisius College volleyball team posted two wins on Saturday, defeating La Salle 3-0 (30-25,30-24,30-18) and Colgate 3-0 (30-24,30-26,30-24) on the second day of the 2003 Colgate Tournament in Hamilton, N.Y. The wins improve Canisius to 6-8 overall in 2003.

In the Blue and Gold's win over La Salle, junior Kim Hoffman led the way with 16 kills and 18 digs. Fellow junior Christina Wildes was credited with nine kills, two service aces and seven digs, while senior setter Jackie Reed registered a match-high 37 assists. Sophomore Leigh Launhardt and freshman Mary Boller were each credited with eight kills apiece in the win over the Explorers, who fell to 6-9 overall with the loss to Canisius.

In the day's final match, three Griffs posted double digit kills, led by Wildes' match-high 20. Launhardt added 12 kills, one solo block and two block assists, with Hoffman scoring 11 kills and a match best 17 digs. Reed was credited with 49 assists in the win over the Raiders, and was also credited with two service aces and three digs. This marks the second time this season Canisius has defeated Colgate in volleyball, as the Raiders fell to 2-11 in 2003.

For their efforts, juniors Christina Wildes and Kim Hoffman were named to the Colgate Invitational All-Tournament Team.

The Blue and Gold will return to action Sept. 26, at home against Cornell. Canisius will also play host to FDU Sept. 27, in the Koessler Athletic Center. This will be the first time Canisius has played a match at home since Aug. 31, when the Griffs lost to Syracuse.
