Manhattan Sweeps Volleyball 3-0

Defending MAAC champion Manhattan scored its fifth-straight win by posting a 3-0 (30-21,30-25,30-24) win over Canisius Sunday afternoon in volleyball action in Riverdale, N.Y. The loss is the Griffs' second-straight and drops the Blue and Gold to 10-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Junior outside hitter Christina Wildes scored 10 kills, while senior Nicole Lucie and freshman Mary Boller were each credited with eight kills apiece. Lucie also posted a team-high 14 kills in the losing effort.

Manhattan's Luke Van Cauteren was credited with a triple-double with 17 kills, 22 assists and 10 digs. Maggie Pfeifer added nine kills while teammate Lori Bambauer had 25 assists for Manhattan.

Canisius will return to action Oct. 18-19, at home against conference rivals Rider and Loyola. The Griffs will open the weekend with a match against Rider Oct. 18. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in the Koessler Athletic Center.
