Junior Kim Hoffman pounded a team-high 21 kills and 17 digs while fellow junior Christina Wildes scored 18 kills on 47 attempts as the Canisius College Golden Griffins posted a 3-1 (30-24,30-32,30-23,30-24) win over local rival Niagara University Wednesday night in Lewiston, N.Y. The win was the Griffs' fourth-straight and improves the team to 14-11 overall and 3-2 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. The loss dropped the Purple Eagles 6-18 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Freshman Mary Boller was credited with 13 kills, a career-high three solo blocks and three block assists in the winning effort for the Griffs. Sophomore Leigh Launhardt returned to the lineup with 10 kills, two solo blocks and four block assists after missing Saturday's match against Marshall.

Senior setter Jackie Reed was credited with a match-high 60 assists and 10 digs in the win, while freshman libero Nicole Phillips chipped in 12 digs. With her 2,166 career assists, Reed moves into second place all-time at Canisius in career assists and becomes just the second player in program history to post 1,000-plus assists in two seperate seasons.

Niagara's Erin Graham had a match-high 24 kills for Niagara, who saw its two-match winning streak snapped with the loss. Michelle LeSouder had 20 kills, while Jennifer Hansford had 59 assists for the Purple Eagles.

The win marks the first time in program history that the Griffs have knocked off both Niagara and Buffalo in the same season. Canisius returns to action Nov. 1-2 at MAAC rivals Marist and Siena.
