Canisius College volleyball player Jackie Reed (East Quague, N.Y.) has been named to the District I All-Academic Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America, it was announced today.

Reed is majoring in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics, and holds a 3.73 grade point average. She was named to the MAAC All-Academic squad last season and serves as the volleyball team’s representative on the Canisius Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Reed helped lead the Golden Griffin volleyball program to a 16-13 record in 2003, the program’s best finish since the 1997 season. Reed was a two-year captain for the Blue and Gold after transferring from James Madison University, and wasted little time adding her name to the program’s record book. She became the second player in school history to be credited with 1,000-plus assists in back-to-back seasons, and finished her career at Canisius ranked second all-time in career assists with 2,331.
