Lackovich and Stackhouse Honored by the MAAC

Lackovich dished out 160 assists, collected 47 digs, and was credited with one solo block and five block assists as the Griffs scored a trio of 3-1 wins over Quinnipiac, Hartford and Colgate. In the team’s win over Colgate Sept. 11, Lackovich posted a career-high 55 assists as the Blue and Gold secured the tournament’s title. She also scored four kills and a team-best eight service aces last week in four non-conference matches. As the team’s primary setter, Lackovich has played in all 25 games and ranks second in the conference in assists per game average, dishing out 10.32 helpers per contest.
Stackhouse was selected as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week after leading Canisius with 88 digs, good for a 5.87 digs per game average. She posted double-digit figures in the digs category in all four matches last week, highlighted by her career-high 30 digs in the win over Colgate. The 30-dig effort by Stackhouse tied a 13-year old school record for digs in a four-game match, and gave the freshman libero a team leading 139 digs through the first seven matches of the year. Stackhouse has played in all 25 Canisius games this season and ranks first in the MAAC in digs per game average with 5.56 per outing.
The Golden Griffins are currently 3-4 overall. The team will return to action Friday, Sept. 17, against Wagner in the first match of the Rose Hill Classic, which is hosted by Fordham University. The match is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
