Manhattan's Megan O'Dorisio recorded 17 kills and 13 digs, while teammate Maggie Pfeifer was good for 12 kills and three block assists as the Lady Jaspers dropped the Canisius College volleyball team by a 3-0 (30-23, 30-20, 30-28) count Saturday afternoon in Riverdale, N.Y. The win was Manhattan's seventh in its last nine matches and improves the team to 11-12 overall and 1-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play, while the Golden Griffins slipped to 6-12 overall and 0-1 in MAAC action.
Canisius junior Mary Boller had 10 kills in the loss for the Griffs, while fellow junior Leigh Launhardt added five kills, two solo blocks and five block assists. Sophomore libero Jess Stackhouse had a team best 15 digs in the loss for Canisius.
Manhattan was good for seven service aces as a team and closed out the three-game match with a .227 team hitting percentage, while holding the Griffs to a .025 team attack percentage.
The Blue and Gold will return to action Sunday, Oct. 16, at MAAC rival Saint Peter's. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
