Marist Downs Volleyball in Five

Marist junior Jaime Kenworthy recorded a career-high 28 kills on 63 attack attemtps, while three of her teammates posted double figures in the kills column as the Red Foxes scored their first win since Sept. 27. Kim McEathron had 15 kills, with Sally Hanson and Christy Lukes adding 11 and 10 kills apiece, respectively.
Canisius won the fourth game 30-23 to force a fifth and final contest of the day after freshman Morgan Ammons had a game-high five kills to lead the Griffs. Canisius led 16-14 in the game and stretched its lead to 19-14 after Boller pounded down a kill and teammate Jess Stackhouse posted back-to-back service aces. In the fifth and deciding game, Marist jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with Kenworthy registering three kills to open a margin Canisius could not overcome.
Ammons recorded a career-high 12 kills to go with a season-best 14 digs in the losing effort, while fellow freshman Brittany Gerde added nine kills, 28 assists, six digs, a solo block and two block assists in the loss. Junior Emily McNabb was good for eight kills, three solo blocks and two block assists off the bench for the Blue and Gold. Stackhouse was credited with a match-high 29 digs and three service aces with fellow sophomore Lauren Lackovich recording a team-high 32 assists.
The Griffs will return to action Sunday, Oct. 30, when the team travels to Siena for a MAAC match. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m., in Loudonville, N.Y.
