Canisius enters the weekend having won three of its last four MAAC matches and 11 of 14 conference matches dating back to late in the 2005 season.
Last weekend, the Griffs defeated Marist in four games and fell to defending league champion Siena in four.
Freshman Michella Domo (Vancouver, B.C.) set a career high with 18 kills in the win over the Red Foxes.
Sophomore Michelle Godfrey (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) hit .538 in the loss to the Saints, which is the second highest of her career.
Canisius assistant coach Rocco Lucci was the head coach at Niagara for eight seasons and was the 2005 MAAC Coach of the Year.
Friday's contest will serve as the Athletes for Athletes match for the volleyball team.
Both of this weekend's matches will volleyball will count in the Battle of the Bridge competition. Canisius won the first contest last weekend with the men's soccer team defeating Niagara 3-0.
Niagara has dropped five of its last six matches with its two conference wins coming at home over Manhattan and Rider.
Raelean Rush leads Niagara in kills per game (3.77) and is second on the squad in digs per game (3.81).
The Purple Eagles are led by first-year coach Susan Clements after serving as the head coach at her alma mater, Georgetown College (Ky.), during the previous two seasons.
Canisius has won five of the last six matches between the schools.
Canisius leads the all-time series 42-31-2 with Niagara.
The 75 matches between the schools are the most of any opponent for Canisius.
