Stackhouse, the school’s all-time leader in career digs with 1,895, averaged 8.00 digs per game in the team’s two matches against Niagara. In the four-game loss on Sunday, Stackhouse totaled 33 digs, which is the third time this season the senior has recorded over 30 digs.
The award is the second of the year for Stackhouse, who also earned the Defensive Player of the Week award Sept. 4. Last season, Stackhouse earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors after sharing the award as a freshman. A three-time preseason All-MAAC selection, Stackhouse earned Defensive Player of the Week four times as a junior and two times as a sophomore.
Domo led Canisius last week in kills per game (3.29), attack percentage (.455) and blocks per game (1.29). In the three-game win over Niagara, Domo recorded 13 kills and only one error on 19 errors for an attack percentage of .632. It was the sixth time this season Domo has had an attack percentage of .500 or higher in a match. In the second match against Niagara, Domo had four solo blocks, which was the most by a Canisius player in the last 25 matches, to go along with three block assists.
Domo earns her first conference honor of the season and third award overall as the freshman was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Ruby’s Inn Montana Invitational and the Golden Flash Invitational earlier this season.
Canisius hosts two home matches this weekend, playing Iona on Saturday, and Fairfield on Sunday. Match time for each day is set for 2 p.m.
