For the second consecutive week, Canisius College libero Jess Stackhouse (Warsaw, N.Y.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Stackhouse led Canisius with 6.12 digs per game in two matches last weekend, including a team-best 28 in the come-from-behind win over Iona. The senior has totaled at least 20 digs in six of the last seven matches.

Stackhouse has now earned three Defensive Players of the Week awards this season and nine fors her career. The two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Year is the all-time leader in digs at Canisius with 1,944. Stackhouse, a three-time preseason All-MAAC selection, is also the school’s all-time leader in career digs per game with 4.92.

During her senior season, Stackhouse leads the Golden Griffins and ranks second in the MAAC in digs per game with 5.60, which ranks as the best single-season average in program history. Stackhouse also owns the second and third-best single-season averages at Canisius. Stackhouse also hasn't committed a service reception error in the last four matches.

Canisius returns to the court this weekend with two road matches, playing at Loyola on Saturday, and at Rider on Sunday.
