Canisius College volleyball coach Cathy Hummel announced today the signing of Olivia Chrzanowski (Cleveland, Ohio) to a National Letter of Intent. Chrzanowski will join the Golden Griffins for the 2011 season.

Chrzanowski played the past three years at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School in Northeast Ohio. The 5-foot-11 outside hitter was named All-Ohio Third Team at the Division I level in 2009. Chrzanowski recorded 934 kills, 717 digs and 176 aces at the high school level as Brecksville-Broadview Heights advanced to the state semifinals in 2010 and 2008.

Chrzanowski also played at the Junior Olympic National tournament four straight years, most recently with the Cleveland Volleyball Company in 2009.

"Olivia has been a standout at every level. She is athletic and a true competitor," Hummel said. "Adding Olivia to the core of our returning players, we are expecting great things from her and our team in 2011."

Canisius posted a 16-17 record during the 2010 season, advancing to the semifinals of the MAAC Championship for the third time in the last five seasons. The Griffs tied for third place in the regular-season standings with a 11-7 conference record.
