NOTING THE GRIFFS
- Looking to build off the momentum from two road wins last weekend, the Canisius College volleyball team returns to the Koessler Athletic Center for its final two home matches of the 2011 season when the Golden Griffins host Marist and Siena.
- Marist defeated Canisius in three sets (25-15, 25-21, 25-21) in the first meeting (Oct. 9).
- Canisius rallied from a two-sets-to-one deficit to defeat Siena (25-18, 23-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-10) in their first meeting (Oct. 8).
- Canisius has won four of the last five meetings with Marist in the KAC.
- Siena has won two of the last three meetings with Canisius in Buffalo.
- Prior to the start of Sunday’s match, the Golden Griffins will honor the four members in their 2011 senior class — Layne Adams, Danielle Brawn, Joanna Burt and Janelle Davis.
- Junior Samantha Good was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Good averaged 3.50 kills per set and 1.00 blocks per set to go along with a .514 attack percentage in two Canisius sweeps.
- Brawn is third in the conference at 3.60 kills per set.
- Davis is fifth in the conference in assists per set, with a career-high average of 9.31. Davis is also tied for sixth in service aces per set (0.36).
- Junior Allyson Severyn is fourth in the MAAC in digs per set (4.32).
- Severyn moved into second place in the Canisius record books in career assists on Sunday, and now has 1,553 in her three years.
- Good is sixth in the conference in attack percentage (.281).
- Canisius is one of three schools, along with Fairfield and Siena, to have 10-plus MAAC wins in at least four of the last five seasons.
- The Golden Griffins rank third in the MAAC with 61 conference wins since the start of the 2006 season.
- Adams and Burt will serve as the team’s captains for the 2011 season. Adams is a captain for the second consecutive season.

MARIST SCOUT
- Marist enters Saturday’s match against Canisius with an 11-13 overall record and 8-6 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Red Foxes, who have lost two straight are in a three-way tie for third place.
- The Red Foxes rank second in the conference in attack percentage (.260), sixth in opponent attack percentage (.215), fourth in blocks per set (1.90) and ninth in service aces per set (1.27).
- Grace Hill ranks sixth in the MAAC in kills per set (3.25) while Joanna Foss is averaging 3.12 kills per set. Marisa Gilbert leads the team with a .341 attack percentage. Brooke Zywick is first on the team at 3.57 digs per set.
SIENA SCOUT
- Siena comes to Western New York with a 10-13 record and 8-6 record in the MAAC, also tied for third place. The Saints have won six straight MAAC matches, but had their overall winning streak snapped in a three-set loss to Albany on Wednesday night.
- The Saints rank seventh in the MAAC in attack percentage (.196), fourth in opponent attack percentage (.187), first in blocks per set (2.02) and first in service aces per set (1.89).
- Taylor Akana leads the MAAC at 4.21 kills per set while Colleen Ahearn is third in the conference with a .300 attack percentage. Lesli Akeo is third in the MAAC with a 5.08 digs per set average.
