Junior Emily Litwin was named the MAAC Libero of the Week on Monday, winning a conference award for the first time in her career.
Litwin averaged 5.30 digs per set in three matches last week, including two road wins for Canisius. The junior libero posted her first career double-double with 23 digs and 11 assists in the four-set win at Rider. Litwin had double-digit digs in all three matches and posted a 95.6 service reception percentage on the week.
Litwin is averaging 4.65 digs per set on the season, which ranks 60th in the country and fourth in the MAAC. The Williamsville, N.Y. native has recorded double-digit digs in 12 of the team’s 13 matches.
Canisius, winners of four out of its last five matches, returns to the Koessler Athletic Center this weekend to begin a stretch of five straight home matches. The Golden Griffins host Marist College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
