Junior Emily Litwin was named the MAAC Libero of the Week on Tuesday, winning the award for the second time this season.
Litwin posted 23 digs in the team’s four-set win at Niagara last week, the fourth time in the last five matches that Litwin has had 20 or more digs. The junior also was 23-for-24 on service receptions in the match. Litwin served out the first set when Canisius won the final five points, capped by a service ace from the Williamsville, N.Y. native.
Litwin is averaging 4.71 digs per set on the season, which ranks 54th in the country and second in the conference. The Williamsville, N.Y. native has recorded double-digit digs in 20 of the team’s 21 matches.
Canisius returns to the Koessler Athletic Center for two matches this weekend. The Golden Griffins open the weekend against Rider, with match time set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, which will serve as the team’s annual Dig Pink match as the Griffs raise money for the Side-Out Foundation.
