BATTING PRACTICE

  • Canisius continues its season-opening 19-game road trip with a three-game series this weekend at East Tennessee State.
  • The Golden Griffins dropped two of three games at Charlotte last weekend, picking up a 10-1 win in the series finale on Sunday.
  • The 49ers won the opener 6-0 and then defeated Canisius 4-3 in 12 innings in the middle game of the series.
  • Junior Devon Stewart threw seven strong innings and the Griffs broke open the game with a six-run seventh inning in the 10-1 win over Charlotte.
  • Canisius defeated No. 5 NC State 3-0 in the season opener. The win was the first in program history over a ranked team.
  • Canisius and East Tennessee State are meeting for the first time in program history.
  • East Tennessee State enters the weekend with a 5-3 recod. The Bucs took two of three from Longwood on the opening weekend and also have wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Auburn and UNC Asheville.
  • East Tennessee State went 36-24 last season and won the Atlantic Sun tournament. The Bucs went to the Nashville regional and faced No. 2 Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech in the NCAA Tournament.
