Sophomore Brett Siddall has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
In six Canisius wins, Siddall went 10-for-20 with 12 RBI and posted a .560 on-base percentage to go along with a .700 slugging percentage. Siddall set a career high with five RBI in a win over Buffalo on April 22. The sophomore outfielder also led off the ninth-inning rally against Youngstown State on April 23, with an HBP and scored the game-tying run. Siddall had four games with multiple hits and multiple RBIs, including five hits and four RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Marist on Sunday.
During his freshman season in 2013, Siddall earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors twice.
Siddall gives Canisius its seventh weekly award from the conference office this season, three more weekly awards than any other baseball team in the MAAC. Siddall is also the third Canisius player to win the Player of the Week award this season, joining senior Jimmy Luppens and junior Connor Panas.
Canisius (28-14, 11-4 MAAC), riding a six-game winning streak, is scheduled to return to the field at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. First pitch in Olean is set for 3 p.m. The Golden Griffins resume conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Quinnipiac.
