The Canisius College men's basketball team travels to the foot of Washington Street in downtown Buffalo to take on cross-town rival Buffalo Wednesday night in First Niagara Center. This will mark Canisius' 45th game in the downtown arena since 1996, where the Griffs are 26-18 all-time.

• Canisius returns to non-league action tonight when the Golden Griffins take on cross-town rival Buffalo in First Niagara Center.
• The Griffs are coming off a 93-78 win over Siena on Dec. 9. In that game, eight of the nine Griffs that played scored at least one basket. Senior guard Billy Baron scored a game-high 21 points to lead the way for the Blue and Gold.
• Baron recorded his fourth career double-double in the win over Siena with his 21 points and career-high 13 assists. In the team’s last two games, Baron’s assist-to-turnover ratio is 6.67.
• This game tonight will mark the first time Canisius has played a regular-season road game in First Niagara Center. Canisius is 26-18 all-time in the downtown venue since 1996.

• The Griffs come into tonight’s game with a 5-3 overall record and a 2-0 mark in MAAC play. Canisius is 2-0 in MAAC play for the second-straight season and for just the fifth time since 1989-90.
• This year’s Canisius team is the first squad since the 1996-97 edition to win two-straight MAAC games by 15-points or more.
• As a team, Canisius has improved its assist-to-turover ratio in the last two games. Coming into tonight’s game against Buffalo, the Griffs have 40 assists against 15 turnovers in their last two games, highlighted by a season-high 24 assists in the win over Siena Sunday.

• Buffalo comes into tonight’s game riding a four-game winning streak after the Bulls defeated St. Bonaventure at home Dec. 7, by a score of 78-73. Buffalo is 4-2 on the year and has not lost since Nov. 13, at Niagara.
• The Bulls are led by senior Javon McCrea. McCrea is averaging 16.8 points and 9.3 rebounds pe game while shooting 57.9 percent from the field.
• Senior transfer Joshua Freelove is chiiping in 12.2 points and 1.3 assists per game for Buffalo, which is averaging 73.8 points per game this year.
• Senior guard Jarod Oldham ranks third on the team with his 9.7 points per game and he’s been good for 5.2 assists per game this season.
• As a team, Buffalo is pulling down 37.8 rebounds per game, which ranks third in the MAC.

• This will be the 46th all-time meeting between Canisius and Buffalo, with the Golden Griffins holding a 30-15 lead in the series.
• Last season, Canisius earned just its fourth win over Buffalo since the 2002-03 campaign with a 71-64 victory in a soldout Koessler Athletic Center.
• Buffalo is 6-5 in “home” game in this series. The Griffs are 3-5 on the road in the series since 2000.
• Tonight marks the second all-time meeting between Canisius and Buffalo in First Niagara Center. The other game in the downtown arena was Dec. 12, 1998, where the Griffs defeated the Bulls 66-56.

• Tonight’s game against Buffalo marks the 45th time Canisius has played on the hardwood in First Niagara Center. This will serve as the first time Canisius has been a road team for a regular-season game in the Center, since it opened in Sept. 1996.
• The Griffs are 26-18 all-time in the building, but have not won a game downtown since defeating St. Bonaventure 68-66 on Nov. 29, 2008. Since the 2001-02 season, Canisius has played a total of nine games in the Center.
• The first Canisius game in the First Niagara Center (then known as the Marine Midland Arena) came Nov. 30, 1996 - a 65-53 loss to St. Bonaventure. Canisius’ first win in the building was over Akron, a 69-58 victory on Dec. 15, 1996.
