  • The Canisius women’s basketball team concludes its two-game road trip with Tuesday afternoon’s meeting at defending league champion Marist in the McCann Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
  • Canisius and Marist are meeting for the 41st time in program history, with Marist leading the series 27-13.
  • Marist has won the last 10 meetings between the schools. The last Canisius win in the series came on Feb. 6, 2009, in a 68-60 win for the Golden Griffins in Poughkeepsie.
  • The 2013-14 season is the 25th year that the Golden Griffins have played in the MAAC.
  • Senior Jamie Ruttle was named to the preseason All-MAAC Third Team. It is the third time in Ruttle’s career that she has been selected to a preseason All-MAAC Team.
  • Canisius was picked to finish sixth of 11 teams in the MAAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.  


  • As of Dec. 29, Canisius is tied for 12th in the country in assisted basket percentage (68.7).
  • Canisius has shot 40 percent or better in six games this season. The Griffs shot 40 percent or better five times in 31 games during the entire 2012-13 season.
  • In Sunday’s game at Manhattan, senior Jamie Ruttle became the 21st player in program history to score 1,000 career points. Ruttle has scored in double figures eight times this season and 52 times in her career.
  • Senior Jen Morabito Morabito ranks sixth in program history in career 3-pointers (180) and is second in 3-point field goal percentage (37.5). Morabito missed Sunday’s game with a hand injury, ending a streak of 98 consecutive games played by the Binghamton, N.Y. native.
  • Senior Jen Lennox is third in the program’s Division I history with 90 blocks.
  • Junior Kayla Hoohuli, has eight seven charges in the last eight games and 35 charges in her career. Hoohuli is the only player in the MAAC to make a 3-pointer in each game this season.


  • Marist has a 7-4 record and is 1-0 in MAAC play. The Red Foxes are playing their first game since a 76-69 win over No. 20/19 Oklahoma in the McCann Center on Dec. 21.
  • Marist has won six straight games after a 1-4 start to the season.
  • Marist has won the last 10 MAAC regular-season titles and nine of the last 10 MAAC Championships, with Canisius winning the 2005 MAAC Championship.
  • Sophomore Madeline Blais ranks fourth in the MAAC in scoring (15.8) while Leanne Ockenden is sixth at 15.4 points per game with Emma O’Connor ranking ninth (13.3). Blais leads the league in FG percentage (56.4), Ockenden is third (54.0) and O’Connor is fourth (51.9).
  • Marist ranks second in the MAAC with a 18.5 turnover percentage. The Red Foxes are fourth in defensive rebounding percentage (66.2) and 11th in offensive rebounding percentage (18.2).
  • Blais also leads the league in 3-point FG percentage (53.5), making 2.1 per game. Marist is making a league-high 8.0 3-pointers per game.
  • Marist also leads the MAAC with a 52.2 two-point field goal percentage, nearly five percent better than any other team in the conference.
  • Brian Giorgis is in his 12th season at Marist. The six-time MAAC Coach of the Year, Giorgis has the fourth-best winning percentage among active coaches. He has led Marist to five NCAA Tournament wins, including the 2007 Sweet 16.


  • Senior Jamie Ruttle became the 21st player in program history with 1,000 career points.
  • Canisius made a season-best 20 free throws.
  • Sophomore Crystal Porter grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds.
  • Freshman Tamara Miskovic made her first career start.
  • Canisius pulled down a season-high 13 offensive rebounds.
