Road trips are always a source of entertainment, from to bus ride to the hotel most are enjoyable. This weekend was no different; we loaded the bus Friday morning to embark on the 7 hour trip to Iona.
Our movie master Ashley Bull, who took the place of former Griff Gina Molfetta, took the animated route this trip with the crowd favorite, Frozen, followed by Monster’s University and Despicable Me. Prisoners was also thrown in the mix to keep us on edge and She’s the Man gave us all a good laugh. Key take a ways from the movies include:
1. Never go into a situation without back-up (Prisoners)
2. We can do anything a guy’s team can do (She’s the Man)
3. We all play different roles on the team and without every role we wouldn’t be successful (Monster’s University)
4. Regardless of time your best friends will be there for you (Frozen).
Between movies coach ran a card circle in the back of the bus where Casey Depauw proved that if dental school doesn’t work out she has a future in Vegas.
Like any road trip snacks play a huge roll and it is unanimous that our favorite is by far the giant bag of Swedish Fish and we don’t just like Swedish Fish we might actually be in love. Fights have broken out over its location and they are used as a wager on the bus (I’ll let you use my pillow if you give me 5 Swedish Fish). This trip also gave us the opportunity to find our teams hidden A cappella talent, seriously watch out for the next season of America’s got Talent because all 26 of us can harmonize beautifully.
We were able to celebrate sophomore Taylor Giglio’s birthday in the hotel with a custom made Justin Bieber cake…Taylor might have a slight obsession with the pop star. After cake it was time to get some sleep for the first MAAC game of the season.
The first half of the game was a little shaky to say the least, but at half time we were able to regroup and pull it together. After a much better second half we stated MAAC play off with a solid 19-12 win. As we start to prepare for Marist this Wednesday the memories of last year’s MAAC championship are fresh in everyone’s mind. We know what beating Marist feels like and we are making sure we will get to experience that feeling again this year.
I need to give a huge shout out and thank you to our amazing family and friends. We were seven hours from Buffalo and our parents pulled off a pretty great tailgate from hot dogs right off the grill to hot meatball subs, fresh fruit salad and delicious brownies we had all the bases covered.
Just Keep Re’LAXING,
I also need to give credit where credit is due to the men’s lacrosse team for coining the term “Loring Boardwalk” found in last week’s chronicle. Additionally congratulations to the guys for upsetting No. 13 Albany this past week!
