Golf Struggles on Day Two of MAAC Championship

The Canisius College golf team posted a team score of 320 on Saturday and slipped three spots from third to sixth after 36 holes at the 2014 MAAC Golf Championship at the Disney Palm Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Sophomore Brendan Polsin bounced back from a rough first round to shoot a 78 on Saturday. He is now tied for 36th in the field. Canisius sophomore Hunter Sagar enters Sunday's final round tied for 15th with his two-round tally of 158, while freshmen David Berkun (161) and Cory Cullen (163) are tied for 23rd and 28th, respectively.

Saint Peter's leads the team event with a 36-hole score of 619 after the Peacocks posted a 309 on Saturday. Monmouth shot a team-score of 302 in the second round to move into second place in the field, and the Hawks start the final round on Sunday trailing Saint Peter's by just two strokes. Fairfield (626), Manhattan (627) and Iona (635) round out the top-five team entries. The team champion at the MAAC Golf Championship earns the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Golf Championships.

Monmouth's Brady Goodling is the leader after 36 holes after he posted a score of 71, which is one-under par. Goodling's two-round score of 148 has him two strokes ahead of Fairfield's Alex Taylor as the event heads to its final 18 holes.

The final round of the MAAC Golf Championships is set to start at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. Canisius will hit the course with Polsin going off tee No. 10 at 8:15 a.m. Action from both the ninth and 18th holes will be broadcast live on ESPN3, with coverage beginning at 10 a.m.
