Canisius senior Jen Consaul was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team on Thursday afternoon. Consaul is one of five players from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to receive first team honors this season.
A communications major with a 3.59 grade point average, Consaul leads the Canisius pitching staff this season with her 15 victories in the circle while racking up a school-record 30 complete games in 32 starts in 2014. She boasts an ERA of 2.51 and she’s fanned 104 batters in 226 innings of work. She has five shutout wins this year for the Golden Griffins and she is the school’s career leader in complete games (83), career appearances (123) and career innings (617.2) while ranking second in career starts (85) and 10th in career strikeouts (344).
The Chili, N.Y., native is one of two pitchers in District 1 to be named to the First Team and now advances to the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America voting.Canisius is 16-28 overall and 6-10 in MAAC play heading into the final weekend of the 2014 regular season. The Griffs will be on the road to play at Marist May 3 and at Quinnipiac May 4.
