The Canisius College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were presented the College Swimming Coaches of America Association (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-America Award for the spring 2013 semester, the organization announced today.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that the programs received this accolade, which is given to teams who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

The men’s team posted a 3.14 grade point average, which placed them in the top-25 in the nation as the Golden Griffins tied Loyola (MD), Notre Dame and Ohio State for 24th place. The women’s squad recorded its second highest GPA since 2012 with a 3.29 GPA.

The program is coming off a very successful season in both the pool and classroom. The team had a conference-leading 21 student-athletes named to the MAAC All-Academic team – the most in program history. The women had nine honorees, while the men’s squad had 12. The team’s both finished third at the 2013 Swimming and Diving MAAC Championships in February.
