The Canisius College men's basketball closes starts its final home weekend of the 2013-14 regular season tonight when the team hosts Quinnipiac in MAAC action. Both teams enter the game with a 12-4 conference record, which is half-a-game behind Manhattan for second place in the league's standings.

Canisius opens its final home weekend of the 2013-14 regular season tonight when the team plays host to Quinnipiac in a key MAAC match-up.
The Golden Griffins and the Bobcats are currently a half-game behind Manhattan for second place in the MAAC standings. Manhattan defeated Monmouth 75-61 on the road Wednesday night.
Canisius is 18-9 overall and 12-4 in MAAC play after the team went on the road and beat Siena 92-88 in three overtimes Feb. 16.
The win at Siena ended Canisius’ nine-game road losing streak to the Saints, and it also gave Canisius four-straight MAAC road wins for the first time since 1993-94.

• Canisius senior Billy Baron leads Canisius and ranks third in the nation with his 24.6 points per game scoring average. He recorded his fifth career double-double Feb. 16 at Siena when he scored a career-high 40 points to go with a career-high 10 rebounds.
• Baron comes into tonight’s game averaging 26.4 points per game in MAAC action. He had 20 points and four assists when these two teams met back on Jan. 30 at Quinnipiac.
• Canisius senior Chris Perez matched a season-high with 25 points in the win over Siena, his 16th game with double figures in the scoring column this season. The Griffs are 12-4 in those games.
• Senior Jordan Heath recorded a career-high four steals in the win over Siena Feb. 16. He ranks third on this year’s team with 28 steals.

• Quinnipiac comes into tonight’s game riding a five-game winning streak. The Bobcats are 17-8 overall and 12-4 in MAAC play this season.
• The Bobcats defeated Saint Peter’s 74-64 at home Feb. 16, in their last game.
• Quinnipiac is the No. 1 rebounding team in the nation with 45.9 boards per game. The Bobcats lead the country with 17 offensive rebounds per game, and the team has two players (Ike Azotam and Ousmane Drame) who rank in the top-20 nationally in rebounds per game average.
• Azotam is the only player in the MAAC to average a double-double. The senior forward is good for 17.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
• Junior Zaid Hearst chips in 15.6 points per game, as Quinnipiac has four players averaging double figures this season.
• As a team, the Bobcats are averaging 79 points per game, which ranks second in the MAAC.

• Tonight’s game between these two schools will be the second all-time and the first meeting between the schools in the Koessler Athletic Center.
• Canisius defeated Quinnipiac 86-74 when the two teams played in Hamden, Conn., back on Jan. 30. The Griffs are the only MAAC team to earn a win in the TD Bank Sports Center this season.
• Quinnipiac is the 56th Division I men’s basketball program to play a game against Canisius in the Koessler Athletic Center since the building opened in 1968.
