The Canisius College athletic department announced today that the Canisius-Niagara basketball doubleheader, scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27, is officially sold out. The women's game will tipoff at 1 p.m., and the men's game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
This will mark the fourth sellout of the Koessler Athletic Center this season, and it will be the fifth time this year there will be a crowd of better than 2,000 in the building for a basketball game. This marks the first time since the Koessler Athletic Center was renovated prior to the start of the 2002-03 season where Canisius has attracted more than 2,000 fans for five home dates in the same season.
Canisius also announced that all of the student tickets for this doubleheader were distributed in 32 hours. The Canisius women enter the game with a 7-10 overall record and a 4-2 mark in MAAC play after the team beat Rider at home Jan. 20 by a score of 75-68. The Canisius men's team is 12-7 overall and 5-3 in league play after the Blue and Gold beat Siena 76-44 Jan. 19, at home. The Griffs' 5-3 league start is the team's best conference record through eight games since the 1997-98.
