  • The Canisius College men's basketball team closes out the 2012-13 season today when the team hosts Rider in the Koessler Athletic Center.
  • The Griffs are 18-11 overall and 11-6 in MAAC play after the team beat Saint Peter's 77-65 in overtime Feb. 28 at home.
  • A win today, coupled with a Niagara loss to Saint Peter's would give Canisius the No. 1 seed in next weekend's MAAC Men's Basketball Championship in Springfield, Mass.

  • Canisius is looking to sweep Rider in regular season play for the first time since the Broncs joined the MAAC in 1997-98.
  • Canisius' overtime victory against Saint Peter's on Thursday night marked the team's first home OT win since Jan. 29, 2010 when the Blue and Gold defeated Niagara 73-70 in extra time.
  • Canisius had four players score in double figures in the win over Saint Peter's on Thursday night. The Griffs have had four or more players record double figures in the scoring column 11 times this season.
  • The Griffs enter today's game ranked second nationally in 3-point field goals per game with 9.2. The team is shooting 54.5 percent from 3-point land in its last three home dates.
  • Junior guard Billy Baron scored a game-high 23 points in the win over Saint Peter's, with eight of those points coming in overtime. He was named a finalist for the Lou Henson Award (given to the top mid-major player in the nation) last Monday.
  • Senior guard Harold Washington passed the 900-career point milestone on Thursday after he scored 22 points against Saint Peter's. He has scored 20 or more points in 15 games in his career and starts today with 905 career points in 59 games as a Griff.
  • Senior Alshwan Hymes starts this contest just three points shy of becoming the 33rd player in school history to reach the 1,000-career point milestone.

  • Rider enters today's game on a four-game winning streak after the Broncs defeated Niagara 68-59 Thursday night in Lewiston, N.Y.
  • Rider is 6-8 in road games this season and the team holds a 5-3 record in MAAC road contests.
  • As a team, the Broncs lead the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage defense, with opposing teams shooting just 30.1 percent from long range on the year.
  • Senior guard Jonathon Thompson leads the Broncs' scoring attack with his 12.9 points per game. He also leads Rider with 3.2 assists per game as well.
  • Junior forward Daniel Stewart is pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the MAAC. He is also chipping in 11.1 points per game.
  • Junior Anthony Myles leads the Rider team with 52 3-point field goals this season. His 12.3 points per game scoring average ranks second on the team.

  • This will be the 38th all-time meeting between these two schools, with Rider holding a 29-8 lead in the series.
  • Rider is 3-2 in the last five games between these two schools and the Broncs hold a 10-5 lead in the series in games played in Buffalo.
  • Canisius' road win in Lawrenceville, N.J., back on Jan. 25 marked just the second Griff win in Rider's Alumni Gymnasium in this series, which dates back to Feb. 22, 1930.
  • The Griffs ended their 13-game road losing streak in the series on Feb. 11, 2011 when the Blue and Gold recorded a 67-65 win in the Alumni Gymnasium.
