The Canisius College men's basketball team returns to the Koessler Athletic Center on Wednesday night when the team plays host to long-time rival Niagara. Game time is set for 7 p.m. This will mark the first time the Canisius-Niagara game has not been televised since Dec. 3, 2003, but fans can watch online in HD through the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network and MAAC.tv. On Monday, Canisius announced that the game is officially a sellout, making this the fifth-straight Canisius-Niagara game in the KAC to be sold out.

GRIFF-INFO
• Canisius returns home tonight to play host to long-time rival Niagara in the Koessler Athletic Center.
• The Griffs are coming off an 83-82 loss at Monmouth Jan. 19. In that game, Monmouth scored six points in the game’s final nine seconds to end Canisius’ three-game MAAC winning streak.
• The Griffs come into this game with an 12-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in MAAC play.
• Canisius extended its streak of scoring 80 or more points in a game to four straight after posting 82 points on the scoreboard in the loss at Monmouth. This marks the first time Canisius has scored 80-plus in four-straight games since Feb. 12-25, 1994.

FAST BREAK POINTS
• The Griffs come into tonight’s game averaging 85.7 points per game in six home dates this season.
• Canisius senior Billy Baron starts this game ranked third in the nation in scoring average with his 23.1 points per game. As of Monday, he ranks in the top-20 nationally in nine different statistical categories.
• Canisius redshirt freshman Phil Valenti came off the bench at Monmouth Jan. 19 and scored a career-high 16 points after connecting on 7-of-9 field goal attempts.
• Senior center Jordan Heath had four blocks against Monmouth Jan. 19 to give him 100 blocked shots for his career. He is the ninth player in school history to record 100-plus career blocks, reaching the milestone in just 50 career games as a Griff.

ABOUT THE PURPLE EAGLES
• Niagara travels south to Buffalo with a 5-14 overall record and a 2-6 mark in MAAC games.
• The Purple Eagles scored their first road win of the season last week, defeating Fairfield 67-63 in Bridgeport, Conn.
• Junior Antoine Mason leads the nation in scoring average with 27.6 points per game. He accounts for 36 percent of Niagara’s total offense and he comes into this game with double figures in the scoring column in 23-straight games, dating back to last year.
• Freshman Ramone Snowden leads the team and ranks 18th in the MAAC in rebounds per game with 5.4 per contest.
• As a team, Niagara ranks 342nd (out of 345 ranked schools) in average points allowed. The Purple Eagles are giving up 84.3 points per game this season.

CANISIUS - NIAGARA SERIES
• This will be the 173rd all-time meeting between these two Western New York schools, with Niagara holding a 96-76 lead in the series.
• Last season, each team won on their rival’s home court. Canisius’ 77-70 win in the Gallagher Center Feb. 10, 2013 snapped the Blue and Gold’s nine-game road losing streak in the series.
• Niagara has beaten Canisius in six of the last eight, nine of the last 13 and 18 of the last 22 games overall, dating back to Feb. 12, 2003.
• The Purple Eagles’ 66-65 victory over the Griffs on Jan. 27, 2013 in Buffalo marks the fifth time in the last 14 meetings in this series where a game has been decided by five points or less.
