The Canisius men's basketball team closes out the home portion of the 2013-14 slate Saturday when the team plays host to Fairfield. Prior to the start of Saturday's home finale, the men's basketball program will take time to honor four seniors who will be playing in their final game at the Koessler Athletic Center. The Senior Day ceremony to celebrate the careers of Billy Baron, Jordan Heath, Chris Manhertz and Chris Perez will begin at 1:55 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to be a part of the Senior Day events.

GRIFF-INFO
• Canisius closes out the home portion of the 2013-14 season this afternoon when the team plays host to Fairfield on Senior Day.
• The Golden Griffins saw their two-game winning streak come to an end Thursday when the team lost to Quinnipiac 88-81. In that game, Canisius scored 31 points in the game’s final 5:23, but it was not enough to overcome Quinnipiac’s hot shooting.
• Canisius is 18-10 overall and 12-5 in MAAC play. The Griffs start today all alone in fourth-place in the MAAC standings.
• Prior to the start of today’s game, the men’s basketball program will honor seniors Billy Baron, Jordan Heath, Chris Manhertz and Chris Perez, who will be making their final home appearance in the Koessler Athletic Center.

FAST BREAK POINTS
• Canisius senior Billy Baron leads Canisius and ranks third in the nation with his 24.9 points per game scoring average. In the team’s last five games, he’s averaging 30.2 points per game.
• Baron scored 31 in the loss to Quinnipiac on Thursday. He’s been good for 30 or more points eight times this season, the most for a Canisius player since 1973-74.
• Canisius senior Chris Manhertz returned to the starting lineup on Thursday against Quinnipiac after he missed three games with a broken nose.
• Against Quinnipiac, Manhertz had 14 points and seven rebounds. He scored the first eight points of the game for the Griffs.

ABOUT THE STAGS
• Fairfield comes into today’s game with a 6-22 overall record and a 3-14 mark in MAAC play.
• The Stags’ picked up their first MAAC road win of the season on Thursday when the team defeated Niagara 72-66 in the Gallagher Center.
• Fairfield is led by forward Maurice Barrow, who is averaging 13.8 points per game. Fellow forward Marcus Gilbert is good for 13.6 points per game.
• The Stags rank 11th in the MAAC and 333rd in scoring average at 62.5 points per game. Fairfield is allowing 69.6 points per game, which ranks second in the league for scoring defense.

CANISIUS - FAIRFIELD SERIES
• Today’s game will mark the 77th all-time meeting between these two Jesuit schools, with Fairfield holding a 44-32 lead in the series.
• The Griffs improved to 4-9 all-time against Fairfield in Webster Bank Arena with their 84-58 win on the road Feb. 1. The 26-point victory is Canisius’ largest MAAC road win in school history.
• The Stags come into today’s game having won four-straight games in the Koessler Athletic Center. That is the longest winning streak in the KAC for an opposing MAAC school.
