In preparation for the 2012 MAAC Cross Country Championships, the conference office has announced that the championship will be televised on ESPN3. The conference championship will be held on Saturday, October 27 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.

The MAAC Cross Country Championships Recap Show will feature coverage of both the men's and women's races from the sound of the opening gun to the close of each race. The show, which can be viewed on Saturday at 5 p.m. on ESPN3, will also feature interviews with head coaches and student-athletes.

"Cross country as a sport has always been a tough nut to crack as far as production is considered," said Michael Colangelo, Producer Broadcast & Operations at ESPN Wide World of Sports. "It is much more than a race between point A to point B. The goal for ESPN3 is to capture not only the competition, but to tell the story of the athletes and coaches through pre- and post-race interviews."

"The partnership between ESPN3 and the MAAC at Walt Disney World continues to develop and the broadcast of the 2012 MAAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships represents another giant stride in that process," notes Rich Ensor, Commissioner of the MAAC. "I am particularly pleased that the league will be able to showcase the nationally-ranked Iona College men's program (currently ranked eighth), who for over a decade have set a remarkable standard for consistency and NCAA Division I recognition."

"The MAAC is excited to continue our expanding partnership with ESPN3 in broadcasting the 2012 Cross Country Championships," said Joe Quinlan, Director of Athletics at Saint Peter's University and MAAC Men's Cross Country Committee Chair. "This is a unique opportunity for our student-athletes to compete at a high level, with the added benefit of national exposure, at one of the nation's premier sporting venues.  This chance to compete on a national stage provides our students with the prospect of facing off against some of the best distance runners in the country and prepare for the NCAA Championships."

"This is a rare opportunity for our sport, and it illustrates a strong commitment by the MAAC to support cross country," said head coach Nathan Huckle. "The national attention this provides will promote all of the programs and student athletes in our conference."
