The Canisius College women's cross country took seventh place and the men's team posted a 10th place finish Saturday at the 45th annual UAlbany Invitational, hosted on Albany's campus in the state's capital. Senior Jill Shea placed 28th with her time of 18:47 on the women's side while freshman Chad Maloy placed 24th in the men's race with his time of 26:14.

Shea was the top individual performer for the Golden Griffins, and she was followed by senior teammates Christine Mulvihill and Julie Dahlkemper, who took 34th and 50th, respectively in the field. Mulvihill crossed the line in 19:02 while Dahlkemper posted a finishing time of 19:27. New Hampshire won the women's race with 29-team points and New Hampshire junior Kelly Maguire won the event with her time of 17:22.

In the men's event, Malloy was Canisius' lone top-25 finisher as he finished the course in 26:14. Sophomore Nate McCabe placed 42nd with his time of 26:41 while juniors Alex Simon and Aaron Hoven took 53rd and 56th place. Simon ran the event in 26:57, followed by Hoven who finished just two seconds behind his teammate with a time of 26:59. The host Albany Great Danes won the men's race with 36-team points. Albany took three of the top four spots in the field, highlighted by senior Paul Lango, who won the event with his time of 24:42.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action Friday, Oct. 28, when the Blue and Gold travels to the Bronx, N.Y., to take part in the 2011 MAAC Cross Country Championships.
