The Canisius College track team finished its season at the MAAC Championships on Sunday.
The men’s team putting a pair of runners in the top-10 of both the 1500-meter run and the 5000-meter run highlighted the Griffs’ performance.
Canisius opened the day with sophomore Cooper Roach (3:54.71) taking fifth in the 1500, with fellow sophomore Travis Jordan taking sixth (3:57.52). Chartt Miller of Iona won the event in 3:50.47.
In the women’s 1500, senior Catherine Phillips was the top-finisher for the Blue and Gold, completing the event in 4:57.02. Junior Brandi Pettit placed 25th in the event.
The highest finisher on the day came from freshman Jeff Antolos, who placed fourth in the 5000-meter run. Antolos finished in 14:57.88, just ahead of junior Chad Maloy who placed seventh (15:07.07). Sophomore Michael Anvelt finished in 11th (15:23.10) and freshman Xavier Sauvageau (15:48.72) finished 15th.
The final top-10 finishers of the day for Canisius was freshman Anna Phillips and junior Morgan Atkins who placed eighth and 10th respectively in the women’s 5000. Phillips finished in 18:38.26, just over one minute behind the winner. Atkins finished in a time of 18:55.71.
Senior Jamie Wallace took 13th in the event (19.01.98), while freshman Haley Keene finished on her heels in 14th.
The men finished in seventh overall with 20 points and the women took ninth with three.
The meet concludes the first season of track since 2003 as the program was added again in January.
