The Canisius College men's lacrosse team added seniors Mike Rautenstrauch and Tom Vivan as team captains for the 2011 season.
Rautenstrauch played in 13 games during his junior campaign, anchoring the team's defensive midfield position. The Buffalo native ranked second on the team and led all short-stick players with 41 ground balls. He also recorded three points during the season, scoring a goal and adding two assists.
During his career, Rautenstrauch has appeared in 42 games, collecting 80 ground balls in addition to four points, one goal and three assists.
Vivan has played in 30 games during his tenure with the Griffs. The senior appeared in nine games during the 2010 season, tallying nine points on eight goals and one assist. During his career, the Buffalo native has totaled 12 points, 10 goals and two assists.
Rautenstrauch and Vivian join Dan Coates as captains of the 2011 squad. The trio will lead the Griffs back into action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at Harvard.
