The Canisius College men’s lacrosse team begins a two-game break from conference play with a road trip to face Binghamton. The two New York schools are set to meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
• Canisius won its second-straight game on Saturday with an 11-10 victory against Quinnipiac, improving to 6-5 on the season and 3-2 in MAAC play.
• Junior midfielder Tim Edwards leads the Griffs with 32 points on 10 goals and a team-best 22 assists. He also leads the team by winning 64.2 percent of his faceoffs.
• Sophomore Vince Gravino has netted a team-best 18 goals this season.
• The Griffs own the best scoring defense in the MAAC at 9.00 goals per game.
• Junior Alex Govenettio has anchored the defensive unit with an 8.67 goals against average and .545 save percentage.

QUALITY EQUALS QUANTITY
• The Griffs have increased their scoring offense as of late and one of the reasons why is doing a better job of finishing their chances.
• Canisius is averaging 10.25 goals per game in the last four contests. The Griffs posted just 6.57 goals per game in the first seven contests of the season.
• During the four-game run, Canisius has finished 29.3 percent of its shots. The Griffs scored on only 20.2 percent of their shots in the first seven games – ranking 64th of 67 teams nationally.

GRAVINO FINDS HIS SCORING TOUCH
• One player that is a big reason for the surge on offense is sophomore Vince Gravino.
• In the last four games, Gravino has netted at three goals in three of the contests. The sophomore now has 12 points (and 11 goals) in the four-game span (3.00 points per game).
• Gravino opened with just 11 points (7g, 4a) in the first seven contests of the season.
• The sophomore now leads the team with 18 goals in 2014 and ranks second with 23 points.

POWER SURGE
• Another reason for the increased scoring has to do with a better man-up unit.
• Canisius has scored at least one man-up goal in each of the last five games, converting nine of its 20 chances during the stretch for a 45.0 percent conversion rate.
• In the team’s first six games of the season, the Griffs scored only one time in 15 attempts (6.7 percent conversion rate).

CANISIUS - BINGHAMTON SERIES HISTORY
• The two New York schools are meeting for a fourth-consecutive year with Binghamton winning two of the previous three games.
• Last season, Canisius won for the first time in the series, earning a 12-11 victory at the Demske Sports Complex.
• The Bearcats won back-to-back 11-7 games the previous two years against the Griffs.

ABOUT THE BEARCATS
• Binghamton is 5-6 on the season after two-straight wins against UMBC and Vermont.
• Tucker Nelson and Matt Springer have led the Binghamton offense in 2014. Nelson has recorded a team-best 36 points and 24 assists this season, while Springer is right behind with 34 points with a team-leading 31 goals.
• Max Schefler has started 10-of-11 games in net, posting a 9.58 goals against average and .537 save percentage.
• Dan Mazurek has led the team at the faceoff X, winning 54.2 percent of his restarts (84-of-155).
