Over the coming weeks, GoGriffs.com will be featuring the newcomers to the Canisius women's lacrosse team. Today's enstallment features Ashley Heisler, a freshman midfielder from Chilliwack, B.C. (Previous installments: Rachel Toole, Shannon Pelitera and Samantha Bianchi).

1. Why did you choose to attend Canisius?
I chose to attend Canisius because of the success of the women’s lacrosse team, its smaller campus, and its short distance from my relatives in Ontario.

2. What is your favorite memory lacrosse memory?
My favorite lacrosse memory is playing in the Canadian Box Lacrosse Championship.

3. When did you first start playing lacrosse?
I started playing box lacrosse at seven and then took up women’s field lacrosse when I was fifteen.

4. Being a member of the Canisius women’s lacrosse team is… exactly where I want to be. I love its positive atmosphere and can’t wait for my first college season.

Favorite athlete: Steve Yzerman
Hobbies: running, reading, skiing
Favorite movie: Step Brothers
Favorite TV show: The Walking Dead
Favorite book: Brave New World
Favorite musician: Chris Martin
Pre-game ritual/superstition: Never wear the same combination of a headband and socks two games in a row.
If you were to play another sport, what would it be? Rugby
Interesting fact about yourself: I have a golden retriever
Best advice you’ve received: Extraordinary measures must be taken in order to achieve extraordinary goals.
