Spring break, snow days and Buffalo don’t normally go together, but for us it seems pretty normal. Buffalo was hit with its second blizzard of the year last week causing our anticipated Louisville game to be cancelled and to our surprise all of our classes! For the first time in many of our college careers we felt like our friends at JMU, University of Delaware and other southern schools whose administrations’ seem to constantly be giving out snow days.

As the snow day was announced, coach came in the gym with dodge balls and the battle between the defense and offence had begun. It didn’t take long for our competitive sides to come out and the casual game of dodge ball escalade to a full out battle; that the defense eventually won, may I add.

The snow day also inspired the sophomores to hold their own snow football game in the Delavan quad. It was complete with Sami Franco’s version of the Heisman pose and Cody Kucharski’s tackle that turned into a snow angle.

Spring break also means team meals. We were lucky enough to be invited to the Kotas’ for an amazing brunch on Sunday morning. The spread Mr. and Mrs. Kotas put out gave dining hall a run for their money; we had everything from breakfast pizza to oatmeal, bacon, fruit and pastries. And the best part: Mrs. Kotas sent us home with leftovers!

As much as we wanted the win on Saturday against No. 5 Boston College, we gave them a game we don’t think they were expecting with a final score of 10-7. The loss made us hungry for a win, and with the return of coach Daley to the Demske we had the perfect opportunity to get back on track. The 19-10 win over Binghamton leaves us 3-3 for the year as we prepare for our game against Duquesne.

In Monday’s game against Binghamton we wore blue ribbons in our hair and on our shoes for “Blue for Ben,” a western New York campaign to support Ben, a four year old boy with terminal brain cancer.

Just keep Re’LAXING,

Alexis Roskovich

Congratulations to men’s lacrosse on their win against their conference opponent, Monmouth, on Saturday! And a BIG congratulations to hockey, who beat Bentley to head to the Atlantic Hockey semifinal game this weekend in Rochester!
