Seniors Morgan Leonard and Lindsey Morgan of the Canisius College women’s lacrosse team were both selected to play in the IWLCA/Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game. In addition, Griffs’ leader Scott Teeter is set to serve as head coach for the North squad in Saturday’s contest.

Leonard and Morgan, who are also on the North roster, become the third and fourth Griffs to be selected to play in the game, joining Chelsea Martinez in 2009 and Allison Daley in 2011. Canisius is also one of just eight schools in the country to have multiple selections to the teams this season.

Leonard earned a number of honors in her final year at Canisius during the 2013 campaign. She was named the MAAC Midfielder of the Year, while also collecting second-team IWLCA All-West/Midwest honors and receiving unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team.

The Sykesville, Md. native recorded 71 points in 2013, scoring a school-record 59 goals to go along with 12 assists. She also led the team with 64 ground balls and 51 caused turnovers, while placing second with 43 draw controls. Leonard currently ranks second nationally with 3.37 ground balls per game, second with 2.68 caused turnovers per game and 12th with 3.11 goals per game.

Leonard made her mark in just two seasons at Canisius. She finished her tenure ranked 10th in the program’s history with 110 points, eighth with 88 goals and third with 91 caused turnovers, while helping lead the Griffs to two MAAC Championships. She was also named 2012 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, while earning MAAC All-Tournament Team honors twice, including MVP accolades as a junior.

An all-conference selection in each of the last three seasons, including first-team honors in 2012 and 2013, Morgan recorded 50 points, 38 goals, 12 assists, 49 ground balls, 36 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls in 2013. The senior finished the season ranked 12th nationally with 1.89 caused turnovers per game.

Morgan finished her standout career ranked among the best in the school’s record book in a number of categories. She is tied for seventh in the program’s history with 130 career points, while ranking sixth with 104 career goals and third with 91 career caused turnovers.

The winningest coach in MAAC history, Teeter completed his 11th season in charge of the Griffs in 2013. He has led Canisius to the last three conference titles, marking the first time in MAAC history that a team has won three-straight women’s lacrosse crowns. Canisius also finished the campaign with a school-record 14 wins in 2013.

The all-star game is set to be played at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. on Saturday.
