The Canisius College women's lacrosse team begins the quest of defending its MAAC Championship as the 2011 titleholders host the 2012 conference tournament. The second-seeded Griffs open with third-seeded Marist on Friday at 8 p.m. with the winner advancing to face either top-seeded Fairfield or Siena in the title game on Sunday at noon.

• The Griffs are playing in their sixth MAAC Tournament and their fifth-consecutive.
• Canisius owns a 3-4 all-time record in tournament play. The Griffs won the title in 2011 and advanced to the championship in 2006, while losing in the semifinals three times.
• The Griffs are 2-2 as the higher-seeded team in tournament games and 1-2 as the lower seed.
• Canisius faced Friday's opponent Marist three-straight years in the semifinals from 2008 to 2010. The Red Foxes won all three meetings.
• The Griffs are also 2-0 against Fairfield in the MAAC Tournament and 1-0 against Siena, defeating both schools last season en route to the program's first title

• Canisius earned its first conference title last season, winning the 2011 MAAC Tournament.
• The Griffs opened the tournament with an 11-9 victory over Siena before defeating Fairfield, 13-8, in the championship game.
• Current assistant coach Allison Daley was named Tournament MVP after recording 22 saves in the two wins, including 13 stops in the championship game (61.9 save percentage).
• Current Griffs Maria Kotas, Megan Oosting and Theresa Walton plus 2011 graduate Taylor Gray joined Daley on the All-Tournament Team.

• Senior Carly Quinn is close to putting her name on top of the Canisius record book.
• Quinn has totaled 193 points during her four seasons with the Griffs, ranking third in school history.
• She is now just seven points shy of the program's all-time mark of 200, held by Lauren Walsh.
• The senior also places second in the school's history with 89 career assists and fifth with 104 career goals.

• Not only is senior Carly Quinn approaching a career milestone but she is doing so in her most productive campaign and is nearing another school mark.
• Quinn leads the Griffs with 68 points during the 2012 season, netting 28 goals to go along with 40 assists.
• The senior's 68 points are just one shy of the single-season standard at Canisius, set by former teammate Taylor Gray last season.
• Quinn leads all players in the MAAC and ranks 27th nationally with 4.25 points per game.

• Canisius has also been just as strong on the defensive end this season as it has been on offense thanks to its aggressive play.
• Canisius entered the week ranked third in Division I with 10.94 caused turnovers per game.
• Junior Morgan Leonard has led the charge for the Griffs this season with 37 caused turnovers. She ranks first in the MAAC and fifth nationally with 2.31 caused turnovers per game.
• Overall, six Griffs have recorded at least 10 caused turnovers during the 2012 campaign. Junior Lindsey Morgan ranks right behind Morgan and places second in the conference with 1.56 caused turnovers per game.
