The Canisius College women’s soccer team allowed four first half goals and ultimately fell 6-1 at Northern Kentucky (3-4-1) on Sunday afternoon. The Griffs dropped to 1-5-1 with the loss.

Canisius’ lone goal was scored by senior forward Brianna Smith, who took a pass from junior midfielder Jenny Piaggione and chipped it over the head of the keeper for her fifth goal of the season. The assist was Piaggione’s first of 2013.

The Griffs fell behind early, allowing two goals in the first four minutes of the contest and were unable to recover. Six different players scored for the Norse.

Senior goalkeeper Megan Tock made four saves in the game for Canisius.

The matchup was the final road contest prior to MAAC play for the Griffs, who will wrap up their non-conference slate with a pair of games at the Demske Sports Complex. Cansius will host Albany Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. to kickoff the weekend.
