The Canadian Lacrosse Association announced today that Canisius College women's lacrosse head coach Scott Teeter will serve as the head coach for the Under-19 Canadian National Team. Teeter will guide the team at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World U19 Championship in Edinburgh, Scotland during the summer of 2015.

“I’m honored to be selected once again as Team Canada’s Head Coach,” Teeter said. “I am blessed to represent my country at an international tournament and look forward to being able to build on our third-place finish from 2011.”

Since taking the reins of one of the nation’s worst programs, Teeter has completely turned the fortunes of the Canisius program. Now in his 12th season as Golden Griffin head coach, Teeter has guided Canisius from a team that averaged fewer than two wins per season to three-straight MAAC titles in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Last season, the Griffs became the first team to win three-straight MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championships.

A native of Shelburne, Ontario, Teeter has guided four Griffs to regional All-America accolades during his time on the Canisius sideline in addition to 10 MAAC Players of the Year.

Teeter also led Canada during the 2011 Under-19 World Championship, helping the team to a bronze-medal finish in Hannover, Germany. The third-place finish is tied for the best in the team’s history.

Overall, Teeter has coached 10 student-athletes at Canisius who have competed at the Under-19 World Championship in addition to two players who have appeared in the Women’s Lacrosse World Cup.

Teeter graduated from Canisius with a degree in physical education in 2002 and earned his master's degree in physical education with a concentration in sport psychology and coaching in 2004. He also earned four letters as a member of the Golden Griffin hockey program.
