In the coming weeks, will be running features on the newcomers to the Canisius women's lacrosse team. Today's feature is on Shannon Pelitera, a freshman defender from Pendleton, N.Y. (Previous feature: Samantha Bianchi)

1. Why did you choose to attend Canisius?
I chose to come to Canisius because I really liked the location and size of it. Also they had the major I was looking for and an extremely good lacrosse team.

2. What is your favorite memory lacrosse memory?
My favorite lacrosse memory so far was last year when I scored my 100th career goal. 

3. When did you first start playing lacrosse?
I started playing lacrosse when I was 12 years old.

4. Being a member of the Canisius women’s lacrosse team is… an amazing feeling. I love being part of this team. The girls on the team have accepted me as a teammate and more importantly as a friend. I cannot wait for my season to begin and create new memories with this team.

Favorite athlete: Mark Steenhuis
Hobbies: basketball, lacrosse, swimming, and singing
Favorite movie: She’s the Man
Favorite TV show: Criminal Minds
Favorite musician: Justin Bieber
Pre-game ritual/superstition: I wear the same socks and sports bra for every game.
If you were to play another sport, what would it be?  Basketball
Interesting fact about yourself: I went up on stage as Justin Bieber’s One Less Lonely Girl. 
Best advice you’ve received: Hard work will always pay off in the end.
