The Canisius College women's soccer team wrapped up its 2011 season on Sunday, April 15 with its annual end of the year banquet held at Pearl Street Grille. Head coach Jim Wendling honored the outgoing senior class and the rest of the team for their efforts this season.

Leading the team in five offensive categories, senior Kelly Reinwald was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Reinwald led the Griffs in goals (10), assists (11), points (31), shots (75), and shots on goal (36). For her team-leading performance this season, Reinwald was named All-MAAC First Team for the fourth time in her career.

In addition to being named the team's MVP, Reinwald swept the Golden Boot Award for most goals scored (10) and the Silver Shoe Award for most assists (11).

Fellow senior Kate Sloane was awarded the Best Defender Award for the second year in a row for her performance along the backline. Sloane earned her first All-MAAC selection this season. In the Golden Griffins' final regular season contest versus Iona, Sloane made her 38th consecutive start, dating back to last season.

In her first season as Griff, freshman Jenny Piaggione was named the Best Freshman. The freshman back recorded her first career point, while appearing in all 19 games this season, including 15 starts.

Wrapping up the awards portion of the banquet, sophomore Katie Griffin was given the Golden Griffin Award, as selected by the coaching staff. A force in controlling the midfield and the Griffs' transition game, Griffin started in nine of 17 contests she appeared in this season. The sophomore finished the season with a goal and an assist.

Sophomore back Adrianna Suk was given the Most Improved Award for her progressive improvement from her freshman year to her sophomore campaign. This season, Suk started in 13 of 18 games she appeared in, tallying her first career goal and assist as a Golden Griffin.

Six seniors were honored at their final banquet, including Sloane, Reinwald, Jenny Griffin, Christina Franceschi, Dina Gabrielli, and Caroline Robert. The six seniors were presented with their jerseys to signify the conclusion of their time as a member of the women's soccer team and the numerous contributions each senior made.

The class of 2012 posted a four-year record of 46-23-10 (.646), the best four-year record by any senior class in program history. In addition, the seniors captured the 2010 MAAC Regular Season Championship, appeared in the program's first MAAC Championship, and set the team record for most MAAC Tournament semifinal appearances (3).
