Nine Members of Women's Soccer Honored by MAAC

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Nine members of the Canisius College women’s Soccer team were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Saturday at its postseason awards banquet.

Sophomores Mattia Cornell (Communication), Brittany Krause (Health and Wellness) and Tara McPherson (Health and Wellness), juniors Maria Nelms (Health and Wellness), Jenny Piaggione (Special Education) and Brigid St. Leger (Sport Management), As well as Seniors Katie Griffin (Health and Wellness), Tara McPherson (Health and Wellness), Kelly McMahon (Physical Education and Health) and Adrianna Suk (Physical Education and Health), all received the MAAC’s recognition for their academic success.

In order to be named to the MAAC All-Academic team, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and be at least a sophomore.

Griffin is a three-time member of the All-Academic team. This is the second time Nelms, McMahon and St. Leger were honored.

The Griffs have had at least seven players on the MAAC All-Academic Team every season since 2007.
