The Canisius College track team will close out its regular season on Saturday at the Brockport Golden Eagle Run.

It’ll be the final tune up for the teams before they head to Lawrenceville, N.J. the following weekend to compete in the MAAC Championships.

The Griffs are coming off the Upstate Challenge at the University at Buffalo, which saw three members of the Blue and Gold take home a victory.

Sophomore Michael Anvelt won the men’s 1500-meter run for the Griffs and freshman Jeff Antolos picked up a victory in the men’s 3000-meter run, while sophomore Travis Jordon took the top-spot in the 800-meter run.

Anvelt won his race by just over a second, racing to a time of 4:02.16. Jordon completed his event in 1:57.85, winning his event by just under a second.

Antolos’ time of 8:41.89 won the 3k, with junior Chad Maloy finishing third in the event and freshman Xavier Sauvageau placing fourth.

Canisius placed five women in the top-nine of the 3000-meter run, with senior Catherine Phillips leading the way with a time of 10:31.10. Freshmen Anna Phillips (sixth), and Macey Walker (seventh), and sophomores Mary Kate Chambers (eighth) and Robin Wagner (ninth) rounded out the Griffs in the field.

Senior Jamie Wallace also posted a strong race for the Griffs last weekend, taking fifth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:56.03.

It’ll be the third time this year that the Griffs have competed at Brockport between the indoor and outdoor seasons. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
