Cross Country to Compete In National Catholic Championships

The Men's and Women's Cross Country Team is set to compete in the 31st annual National Catholic Championships on the campus of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. on Friday Sept. 17 starting at 4:15 p.m.

The Golden Griffin women's team will be one of 36 teams competing while the men's team will be one of 37. The race will have three components to it with a men's (five mile) and a women's (five kilometer) open race event starting at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) followed by the five kilometer women's race at 4:15 p.m. and finishing with the men's five mile race at 5 p.m.

The Women's team is coming off its best showing at the National Catholic Championships in 2009, placing second overall. Senior Maura Frauenhofer had her personal best finish in South Bend, Ind. as she came in 10th overall at Notre Dame.

Both the men's and women's cross country competed at the Duquesne Duals on Sept. 4, as the women took third and the men took eighth in the first meet of the 2010 campaign.
