Senior Maura Frauenhofer earned a third-place finish and led the Canisius College women's cross country team to fourth-place overall at the 44th annual UAlbany Invitational. Frauenhofer continued her strong 2010 campaign crossing the finish line with a time of 17:41which was a mere seven seconds off the pace of the first place finisher Gracye Selig from Brandeis University. Canisius received solid performances from the usual suspects as junior Jill Shea came in 20th with a time of 18:34 followed by junior Christine Mulvihill (18:43), freshman Mikelle Cala (18:50), junior Julie Dahlkemper (19:25), with freshman Jamie Wallace (19:34) and senior Melanie Grzebinski (20:18) rounding out the women's results.
For the men McCabe was the team's top-finisher for the fourth time in five races in 2010. Sophomore Alex Simon was second on the team to cross the finish line placing 52nd with a time of 26:39. Senior Aaron Hoven finished 62nd (26:49) followed by junior Jon McDonald (27:30), freshman Ricky Looby (27:35), junior Mark Kearney (28:06), and senior Sean Balkin (28:59).
The women's finish today makes it five straight races this season that the team has finished top-10 overall. Meanwhile the Men had two runners set new season-best times as Kearney finished with a time of 28:06 surpassing his previous season-best 28:13. While McDonald beat his previous season-best time of 28:00 by 30 seconds clocking in at 27:30 this afternoon.
Both Cross Country teams will be back in action on Oct. 29 when they compete at the MAAC Championships in Madison, Conn.
