Junior Jen Consaul picked up both wins on the day in the circle for the Griffs to improve her record to 3-1 on the year. Senior Amanda Baun went four frames in the first game against St. Francis, but Consaul came on in relief and earned the win in that game before giving up just two hits to go with 11 strikeouts against North Carolina A&T.
The Griffs will play St. Francis, North Carolina A&T or UMES in the North Carolina A&T Invitational championship game at 12 p.m., on Monday. The North Carolina A&T-UMES game was halted in the fourth inning on Sunday because of darkness. That game will be completed at 8:30 a.m., Monday morning.
The Golden Griffins jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning but needed five runs in the fifth take defeat St. Francis (Pa.) 10-4 in the first game of the North Carolina A&T Invitational. With Canisius already leading 2-0 in the first, DeMarco drilled a single to right that allowed two runs to score to put the team up 4-0. The Red Flash (0-3) added a single run in the second and three runs in the third to knot the game at 4-4, but Canisius took the lead for good in the fifth as the team sent 10 batters to the plate in the frame and scored five runs on five hits to make the score 9-4. Canisius added an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI base hit by DeMarco.

Baun got a no decision in the game after she gave up four runs, just one of which was earned, on four hits to go with five strikeouts and three walks.
