The Canisius College men's and women's swimming and diving teams open conference action when they host MAAC opponent Marist on Sunday morning at the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College.

The Golden Griffins return to the pool after splitting with Geneseo in the team's dual on Oct. 22. The Golden Griffin men were victorious in their dual, defeating Geneseo, 146-95, while the women were edged by host Geneseo, 125-118.

Capturing 11 of the 13 events, the men finished one-two in four of the events. Junior Shawn Parkhurst won a pair of events in the 100 fly and 1,000 freestyle. Winning individual races were freshman Sean Wurster (200 freestyle), juniors Matt Moessinger (500 freestyle) and Tyler Carver (100 breaststroke), and seniors Adam Calandra (100 freestyle) and Steve Pochatko (100 backstroke). On the diving boards, freshman Eddie Quarantillo completed the sweep of both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

On the women's side, freshman Marissa Oakey (200 freestyle and 500 freestyle) led the way, capturing a pair of first-place finishes. Sophomores Anna Schena (1,000 freestyle), Kelli Graber (50 freestyle), and Maggie DeMarco (100 backstroke) also each placed first in their respective events. On the boards, freshman Taylor Epstein won the 3-meter diving event.

Marist enters Sunday's dual after splitting with conference opponent Rider on Oct. 30. The women's squad captured a 150-134 victory and the men's team fell to Rider, 183.5-114.5. In the women's victory, junior Kate Conrad and sophomore Lauren Weiner were named the MAAC Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.
