The Canisius College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were presented the College Swimming Coaches of America Association (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-America Award for the spring 2013 semester the organization announced.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that the programs received this accolade, which is given to teams who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

The women’s team recorded its highest GPA in the four years Canisius has earned the award, posting a 3.43 this spring. The men placed in the top-25 for the third time after completing the semester with a 3.25 GPA.

The program is coming off one of its most successful seasons in both the pool and classroom. In February at the MAAC championships, 16 student-athletes were named to the MAAC All-Academic team – the most in program history. Nine men and seven women earned the honor. In addition, the women’s team recorded its highest finish ever at the MAAC Championships placing third. The men finished in the top-three for the third consecutive season.
