Griffs' Varsity Eight Earns MAAC Weekly Honor

The Canisius College Varsity Eight earned its second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly honor this season, finishing third overall at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships on April 6 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.

Finishing third among a field of ten crews, the Golden Griffins' Varsity Eight crossed the finish line at 7:52.3 with a 3.3 second lead over MAAC affiliate Jacksonville (7:55.6). The win marked the Griffs' third of the season over a MAAC opponent with victories over both Fairfield and Loyola at the Jesuit Invitational to open the spring schedule on March 16.

The Varsity Eight included junior Lynna Paradiso (1), senior Stephanie SanFilipo (2), junior Nancy Kennish (3), junior Liz McKinney (4), senior Bridget Laszewski (5), freshman Nora Kennon (6), senior Monica Klenk (7), sophomore Liz Reinwald (8), and freshman coxswain Hannah Blum.

The Blue and Gold will next compete at the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J. on April 12-14.
