The Canisius College women’s lacrosse program has added a pair of former collegiate Players of the Year in Lindsay Rogers and Rachael Burek to its coaching staff, head coach Scott Teeter announced on Tuesday.

“Being able to add two All-Americans and two successful collegiate players is a tremendous boost to our program,” Teeter said. “Both had outstanding leaders during their playing careers and we look forward to bringing their philosophies to Canisius.”

Prior to joining Canisius, Rogers played her collegiate lacrosse at Syracuse University under head coach Gary Gait. As a member of the Orange, she was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 and was selected to the IWLCA All-America Second Team. She also holds the school record with 56 draw controls.

Previously, Rogers served as an assistant coach at Rochester Institute of Technology. She was also a head coach of Rochester’s Relentless Hustle Lacrosse Club. In addition, Rogers has coached overseas at St. Georges VA School in the United Kingdom.

Burek joins the Griffs' coaching staff after playing the last four seasons at Albany, where she was the America East Conference Co-Player of the Year in 2013. While serving as a team captain, Burek led the Great Danes in points with 84 during her senior season. Burek was named to the IWLCA All-America Northeast Region Second Team in 2013 and participated in the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game.

Prior to Canisius, Burek served as a head coach for the Albany Elite Lacrosse Club for three seasons, coaching high school-aged students.

The Griffs are in the midst of their most successful stretch in program history, having won each of the last three MAAC Championships.
