After leading the Canisius College men’s soccer team to a win against rival St. Bonaventure, senior midfielder Will Hudson was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Hudson scored both goals in the Griffs’ 2-1 victory at St. Bonaventure on Sunday. After the Bonnies opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, it took Hudson just 40 seconds to tie the game – netting an unassisted goal. The senior then scored the game-winning tally in overtime, finding the back of the net from the penalty spot for the 2-1 win.
The London, England native is currently tied for the team lead with seven points and three goals in seven games this season. In 60 career contests, Hudson has totaled 24 points, nine goals and six assists.
The weekly accolade is the second for Hudson in his career. He also earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors as a junior after netting three goals in a win over St. Francis.
Hudson and the Griffs turn their attention toward the conference season this weekend. Canisius hosts Manhattan in its MAAC opener on Saturday at 7 p.m.
